There is a particular kind of object that outlasts the person who left it behind — a charger still coiled beside a bed, a hair tie forgotten in a car door, a room that has quietly rearranged itself around someone’s absence. Your Tresses, My Tangled World, the first novel from Saba Fardoos, is built almost entirely out of details like these: small, ordinary, and impossible to un-notice once they’ve been seen.

The novel moves across five parts and fifty-five chapters, following what people say to each other, what they don’t, and the quiet architecture they build — room by room, memory by memory — around the people who mattered to them. It is, at its center, a book about four things: memory, intimacy, control, and meaning. Not as abstractions, but as they actually show up in a life: in what’s remembered too precisely, in what’s shared without being said aloud, in the need to resolve what other people are content to leave open.

“Some things live longer in the spaces between.”

Fardoos writes with a restraint that trusts its reader. Nothing here is explained twice. The novel is less interested in what happened than in what each person involved believed it meant — and how those two things can quietly stop matching each other, long before anyone notices.

Saba Fardoos is based in Germany. Your Tresses, My Tangled World is her first novel, and it announces a distinct, unhurried voice — one more interested in the rooms people leave behind than in the doors they walked through to get there.

Your Tresses, My Tangled World publishes in 2026. The Story, Inside, and Author pages go further into the novel’s construction, its themes, and its author; further coverage will gather here in the Newsroom as the book reaches readers.
